Description
A superb pair of hand blown and cut Stuart Crystal decanters made in the 1930’s, probably by Geoffrey Stuart. It’s fairly rare to find a matching pair of decanters of this age.
They are barrel-shaped with mushroom stoppers and are etched ‘Stuart ENGLAND’ underneath. It’s always fascinating to see the variations and imperfections to these early hand blown glass pieces and as these are a pair, you can compare the differences. Have a good look at the photos.
They measure 25cm in height with a width of 10cm across the base and are in a good condition overall with some visible blooming (faint white residue caused by improper drying inside) to a section inside of each decanter. This effect is not noticeable once they’re filled. There are also 6 very tiny chips to some of the vertical cuts of the one decanter but these can easily be polished out by a glass repairer that I’d be happy to recommend if it bothers you. I like perfection but these are so minor and only visible on very close scrutiny. Bare in mind too that they have been used and are over years old!
